Photos App Sharing Malfunction Redirects to Error Page
Users are experiencing an issue where attempting to share photos directly from the Photos app results in a redirection to a broken URL.
A Nextcloud user reported that when attempting to share a photo through the Photos app, the browser redirects to a URL that triggers a ‘file not found’ error. This issue began on November 1, 2026, and affects Nextcloud Hub 26 Summer (version 35.0.2).
The problem arises because the Photos app generates a URL without the necessary ‘dir’ parameter, which Nextcloud requires for file access. Manually accessing the file through the Files app and sharing it from there works correctly, as the URL includes the ‘dir’ parameter.
The user confirmed that no relevant log entries were found to explain the error, suggesting a configuration or code issue within the Photos app itself. The Nextcloud instance is running on Debian 13 with nginx and php-fpm 8.4.27.
