Six German States Adopt Nextcloud-Based School Collaboration Platform
A framework agreement allows schools in six German states access to a sovereign, open-source collaboration solution built on Nextcloud technology.
Following a public procurement process, IONOS has been awarded a four-year contract to provide the Nextcloud-based solution to schools and authorities in Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, with other states able to join.
The IONOS Nextcloud Workspace combines file management, online document collaboration, and communication tools, leveraging Nextcloudâs open architecture to provide greater transparency and control over digital tools.
Nextcloud CEO Frank Karlitschek emphasized the importance of exposing students to open-source technologies to foster independent decision-making regarding technology in the future.
